About the Author

Hello! I am Lovely Strife, a random person who loves to read, write, and watch Doctor Who! I one day hope to become a mad scientist, but for now I am happy being a mother, wife, and student. This blog will mainly be dedicated to my long-term art project titled Barbie Who?, an adventure in turning regular Barbie dolls into characters from the Whoniverse. Even so, I may occasionally cross into other realms – you have been warned. I hope you enjoy my crazed ramblings as this project progresses.

Barbie Who? is a project I started just after my daughter was born, and this blog followed soon after. I remember that I didn’t like boring old ‘regular’ Barbie growing up. I wanted to play with more interesting dolls, but there weren’t many other 1:6 doll options in the 80’s and 90’s for me to play with. I don’t want my daughter to fall into the same problem. I want her to have dolls that are fun and have a real personality. I want her to have role models that are flawed and vibrant. I also want her to be a little bit geeky, just like mom. With all of that in mind, I decided to create dolls themed after characters on the cult classic TV show Doctor Who. Right now, I am focusing on clothing and accessories to match various characters, companions, and Doctors from the beloved BBC series. Eventually, I do hope to cross over into repainting their faces and doing other customization to bring the dolls to the next level. It will be quite the adventure!

  1. Hi, thanks for stopping by my blog. I love your Barbie Who cover photo. Always good to meet another Doctor Who fan especially one that likes dolls too. 🙂

  2. Thank you for stopping by my Blog earlier this month. My 9 year old daughter and I love to knit and crochet and we are looking forward to creating some fabulous outfits for her Monster High dolls. By the way, we love that you are a Doctor Who fan as well. Santa is contemplating on getting a Doctor Who doll to live with the Monster High girls in our house…because there is waaayyyy too much estrogen going on. Cheers!

    • If anybody can hang out with those monsters and not think anything of it, it would be the Doctor. 🙂

Thank you for popping in. Sticka till Barbie is a great website for doll clothes, and I think they have some patterns for Bratz dolls that will fit thr MH dolls very well. I have also heard that Skipper clothing fits well, and they have some patterns for her in their Barbie archive. It is worth a look if you want to so tiny knitting for your dolls.

  3. Okay – I love this idea for a blog – following along!

  4. Love your project! Good for you shaking things up in Barbie world. I think that’s why our generation always cut her hair and popped her head off, we just didn’t have enough variety.

    • So very true! I have keen memories of a year when my sister and her friends bought fireworks to blow her up. 🙂 I don’t think she would have done that to an Ood doll. lol

  5. HI
